If you flick right, you should get to a point in the screen where you can choose different options including a shorter four digit passcode or something alphanumeric. Just remember you'll have to remember and use it whenever you unlock your phone and don't use touch or face id. There are also other circumstances when you'll be occasionally asked for your passcode.
