I seriously considered the 12 mini before deciding on the SE20.

I am planning on replacing my iPhone 7 with the 2021 iPhone Mini. I
very much want a smaller device with the same functionality of the
bigger phones. Battery size is relative. The iPhone 7, released in
2016, as a battery size of 1960 milliampere hours. The iPhone 8 and SE
second generation have battery sizes of 1820 mAh. The iPhone 12 mini
has a battery size of 2227 mAh, bigger than the iPhone 7 and 8 but
smaller than the regular iPhone 12 which is 2815 mAh. When compared
in actual use, which Apple wants consumers to consider, the 12 Mini
plays audio and video longer than the 7 or 8. I bought the 7 in
October 2016 and have not changed the battery since. It still lasts a
reasonable amount. People like to find something on which to
criticize an Apple device without placing their criticism in context.
The other criticism is that Apple phones have shorter battery life
than Android flagship phones. Apple could easily increase the
thickness of the phones, but people want light digital tools in their
hands and pockets not bricks.

Interesting,

I have’t heard of anyone purchasing one yet but I was lead to believe that
the battery life wasn’t great in the mini,

It was really the size that they were pushing as a replacement size or
format to that of the SE but with the face id and 5g features.

I wonder what this does for the 13’s format range.

Apple reportedly cuts iPhone 12 mini production amid tepid demand

Apple has informed partner suppliers that it has reduced iPhone 12
mini<https://appleinsider.com/inside/iphone-12-mini> production plans for
the first half of 2021, with manufacturing of some specialty parts suspended
altogether, according to a report on Wednesday.

Citing industry sources familiar with the matter, Nikkei reports major
suppliers were recently
informed<https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXZQODZ101TZ0Q1A310C2000000/> of
the production shift that marks a change in Apple's procurement strategy.
Prior to the reported downward revision, the tech giant was aggressively
buying semiconductors, printed circuit boards and displays amid a worldwide
parts shortage.

Apple is targeting output at around 75 million iPhone units for the first
half of 2021, down 20% from December 2020, the report says. Much of that
downgrade is blamed on iPhone 12 mini. Nikkeisources note that demand for
other iPhone models like the iPhone 12
Pro<https://appleinsider.com/inside/iPhone-12-Pro>remains strong.

Today's report echoes rumblings out of Apple's Asian supply chain in
January<https://appleinsider.com/articles/21/01/22/apple-shifts-more-production-from-iphone-12-mini-to-iphone-12-pro>when
Pegatron supposedly saw reduced orders for the diminutive iPhone. Foxconn,
which is tasked with assembling the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro
Max<https://appleinsider.com/inside/iPhone-12-Pro-Max>, received an increase
in orders for those models during the same period.

Apple introduced iPhone 12 mini last fall as an alternative to its flagship
range, which has over the years entered into "phablet" territory. Though it
sports a modest 5.4-inch display, the 12 mini integrates all the trappings
of a modern iPhone including 5G connectivity, A14 Bionic processor, dual
12MP cameras with optical image stabilization, Face ID authentication and
more.

Word of a soft demand first surfaced in
November<https://appleinsider.com/articles/20/11/25/kuo-apples-major-product-lines-enjoy-healthy-demand-in-q4-but-airpods-shipments-muted>
with TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi

expected demand.
