My Apple earbuds have a microphone on them. I use them for phone conversations all the time, when the conversation is going to be long.

The Belkin Rockstar is an adapter with two lightning female ports with about a 2 inch cable and a male lightning connector. I know this cable will allow you to both charge with one of the ports and do something else with the other port but I’m not sure both the microphone and headset would work when plugged into it. Since the Rockstar costs about $40, you should make sure what you intend to do will work. I would like to use the mic when I am using headphones and if I am using headphones they would be taking up the lightning plug, thus I would need one on the adapter with the headphone jack.
