Kelly, If you have auto brightness turned on, when you use screen curtain, it is automatically set to zero. That way, if you need a sighted person to look at your phone, you simply turn off the screen curtain and it adjusts immediately to the room lighting.

Besides a bigger battery, the OLED screen means that black or dark screens use a lot less battery power. Not only do I have brightness set to zero, I also have my screen Curtin on so the screen is completely black. Sighted people are freaked out at first because they think I am using a specialized device. With LCD screens, black is a color illuminated by the display while with OLED, black does not turn on the small little lights on the display whatsoever.
