Hi Sieghard and all, Yes, widgets do take up some real estate on your home screen, and you do have to keep that in mind when adding widgets. And I do agree, widgets is a personal preference. It took me some time to come around to widgets, but now that I use them on a daily basis, I would hate to do without them.
I have 4 widgets on my home screen, and since I stack them, they do not take up any more room than one would. The widgets I use is reminders, carrot for my weather, fantastical for my calendar, and battery for the status of all of my connected devices. For me, it just puts everything in one place for me so I can quickly check and keep track of things. I do know that there are different ways of doing the same thing, but I find that it is the best for me and my situation. As far as size, this is what I found on Google. Small, 2 by 2 square. Medium, 2 high, 4 wide. Large, 4 by 4 square. Hope this has been helpful.
