I have an old iPhone 6 that belongs to my wife and we want to dispose of it while making certain that all the data has been wiped. Unfortunately, the screen of the phone is heavily damaged such that it can't really be read at all and operating the phone through touch is all but impossible. I did manage to get into the phone twice on different days. VO does work and that's the only way we know that the phone has data. but getting in is not a sure thing. And, even if you manage it, getting around the screens to the reset is not a certainty.
My wife is sighted and doesn't use VO at all. I tried connecting the phone to an expendable Win7 computer for the purpose of erasing the data and I was told by the Win7 machine that, in order to proceed, I would have to acknowledge the computer's attempt to connect with this damaged phone by responding on the phone. You can see the problem. Does anyone have a hack or a suggestion that would allow me to get to the RESET to factory default by any means at all? My wife is intensely respectful of piracy and data privacy and merely handing this off to anyone without making an effort to sanitize it is not desirable. Any help appreciated.
