You can also assign a different sound when you receive email from VIP contacts, to do so go to Settings > Notifications > Mail, then at the very bottom tap on "Customize Notifications" and then find VIP, double tap on it and select how you want notifications to display, whether you want them on the lock screen and so on, you can also select a sound which then applies when email is received from contacts who are in your VIP list.

What this will do is when you receive an email from them, it will send you an alert or notification stating that you have email.
