I cannot say why you have not heard of setting the Bluetooth type to speaker before now. It has been discussed quite a lot in threads concerning this issue. But, if you are like me, you don't read every single message in every thread, and since people tend to hijack threads at times, my habit of deleting messages based on the subject line means I too miss things from time to time.
But, you know it now and it is a great feature when it works. Sadly, sometimes, it doesn't work. I'd say at least 90% of the time it works as intended.
