Wow, thank you for this description.  It's helpful & informative.

A little further discussion on the keyboard, are the keys rubbery or plastic?  
I'm trying to get a feeling for it.  I heard a youTube video, where a user 
typed on the rb18, I'm guessing those keys are plastic.

I listened to a podcast on the fb14 and it sounded like there was a slight 
squeak in the recording, but I couldn't tell if that was happening when he was 
brailing, or if it was something in the background.

Lol, I'm afraid the only braille keys I could compare all this to is the old 
braille 'N Speak.  If anyone remembers that device.  :)

A question for you braille users, how often do you find yourself typing in 
8-dot braille?  I know on the fb14 the dots 7&8 are placed more ergonomically.

A little side note here, I've learned the battery life of the Perkins Mini is 
only 10 hours on bluetooth.  A pretty large difference in comparison to the 
other small displays.
