I received my Orbit Reader 20 Plus this past Christmas, and have just begun to get comfortable with it. My main purpose for it is for use with my iPhone when traveling, for answering email and texts. I was having the same issue. Having the phone's screen locked before turning the Orbit Reader on or off worked for me only some of the time.
I finally decided that I was getting really confused by the files that came on the SD card, and, since I'm currently only using my Orbit Reader with my phone, I didn't really need the SD card. So I just took it out of the unit, and left it out. Now everything is working correctly with my phone. If, and when I decide to learn to work with the SD card, I'll pop it back in, or better yet, get a blank one, and give it another try. I have contacted technical support and followed the instructions in the manual to the letter. If I keep the unit in "sleep" mode, it stays connected. However, after turning it completely off, though it recognizes the ORBIT reader, and in settings it says the unit is connected, there is no response. I am told By technical support to just unpair and re-pair the unit. Really? every day, and even twice a day? Orbit Research, from which I bought the READER directly, offErs no other advice. I'm about ready to just give up and send it back. But first, I turn to some of you who might know how to solve my connection problem. Thanks in advance for any assistance.
