I think this stereotype is completely false. Discussing issues on a list like
this doesn’t mean people aren’t also reporting these issues to Apple. I’d also
say that blind people are no different in this respect than our sighted peers.
Your spelling makes it a bit hard to parse, but I don’t think blind people are
any more laid back than the population as a whole. I would strongly encourage
people to talk about issues on this list and try to help each other out. Issues
should also be reported to Apple and we should encourage people to report
issues. This is different though than disparaging blind people in general.

This is not weird but this is because 90% of all blinds are quiete laid-back
and just complaining amongst each other instead of reporting to accessibility!
PEOPLE DO REPORT!

Onderwerp: RE: Reading notifications on the lock screen

Hi Debbie,

Voiceover wasn’t reading notifications on the lock screen when I was using an
iPhone 8 with versions from IOS 16 forward. Although I am alerted to a new
notification when the phone is locked, voiceover also doesn’t read
notifications on my new iPhone 14 Pro. Some on this list have reported they
aren’t having this problem. Apparently we are part of an exclusive group. 😀

I called Apple Accessibility yesterday, and the woman I spoke with said she
wasn’t familiar with this issue, which is weird since this has been a known
problem since IOS 16.1 came out. Granted, some are reporting this is not a
problem for them, but it certainly is for many of us. The Apple Accessibility
representative’s only comment was to use “Hey Siri”. I respect the proposed
alternative, but so hope that one day, voiceover will once again read
notifications on the lock screen.

I submitted a case with Apple Accessibility, and encourage you to do so as
well. Send an E-mail to:
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>

Subject: Reading notifications on the lock screen

Hello,

I just upgraded to IOS 16.1 on my iPhone 8. Now when I receive a notification,
it just announces 1 new notification but doesn’t read the notification aloud. I
have to flick to it and read it that way. How can I get it to read the
notification on the locked screen when it comes in?

Thank you!

Debbie unless
