I wasn't part of the beta testing, but personally I would have preferred to wait for the new features while they addressed the sleep timer/losing place issue. I can't imagine anyone who actually uses the bard app feeling that totally losing your place is at all acceptable. To my mind that would be like closing a print book without a bookmark and telling the reader, "just try to remember which page you were on."
