Do you have a landline so you can call Apple Accessibility and ask them to help you try various things? The volume was mentioned, if you have a set of wired Earpods or another wired headset you can use I would try this, plug it in and see if you get anything. You can also try to flick the mute switch towards the back, if the phone is on you feel a small vibration, then don't forget to flick it back to the front which is the unmute position. If you do feeel the vibration, try holding the side button for a moment and see if Siri reacts. You may have accidently turned off Voiceover. Ask Siri to "turn on Voiceover" if it is already on Siri will tell you this. Lastly, try a 3-finger double tap to see if you accidently muted Voiceover, but definitely also simply press volume up 6 or 8 times to make sure the volume isn't turned all the way down. Finally, if you have a landline or somebody is around with another phone, ask them to call your number and see if your phone rings or vibrates.

The alarm went off and I pressed the home button to stop it. Nothing after that. Once before it also seemed dead and I ended up at the Apple store. They told me it was in this state because of an update. The consultant said to press the volume up and down buttons, hold the power on button for the count of 100 etc. etc. Of course if it is again an update causing the problem, I cannot remember the sequence of steps to activate the phone again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Marilyn -- The following information is important for all members of the V iPhone list.
