I am totally blind myself, but I turned off the attention awareness thing, so I didn’t quite understand what that meant and what that did and I read much earlier before this thread when I first got this iPhone 14 when I had questions a long time ago on this list I think Richard or somebody I don’t know who responded directly to me or right away within like five minutes of my sending my message about Face ID in the first place they told me to turn off the attention awareness feature which I did, and I haven’t had any issues since then the only times I’ve had issues is if I’m laying in bed a And I’m not looking directly at the phone or once in a while I’ll have to get it on the second attempt when I’m sitting up or standing when I’m opening my patelco mobile app which has some unlabeled buttons but I’m trying to work with them on that as far as accessibility goes lol but anyway all that being said, I get it usually in the second attempt, but when I set up the Face ID for the first time, I did not know what I was doing so I ended up getting one of those stands that hold the phone in place  Your kind of like a tripod kind of deal that was magnetic friendly and then I just looked straight into the phone that way with my glasses and without my glasses so I could capture my face that way. Only took roughly 3 to 5 minutes to figure that out when I first set it up going from an iPhone 8 plus to an iPhone 14 was definitely a little learning curve but I figured it out , and if I can figure it out, I’m sure you can figure it out. Have a great day. I hope this helps.

Hi,
from what I have read we all do this slightly different. I just pick up the phone off a desk or out of my pocket and hold it about 18 inches or more from my face on a slide angle  so the camera points to my face not my belly.
I do have attention aware turned on as it is better security. I should say I am a total.
Max.

I hate to admit this, but if I can’t ask fellow blind folks, then what is the point of a list like this? I have never mastered the use of facial recognition. I was able to follow the directions given to set up face ID fine. The problem I continue to have  is how to hold my phone up to my face  so that my fade is recognized. Several months ato I just stopped trying and have been using my password  instead, but I am  now determined to figure this out.  How did some of you  learn how to do this?
