It's definitely somewhat disappointing, but not being an audio engineer, I have no idea how easy or not it would be to put all of that hardware into a headset; Sonos took years to finally release a headset and I assume there is a reason why it doesn't have the ability to stream over Wi-Fi. For that matter, I don't think I have ever heard of a headset which can do this so it may simply not be possible to do this given the size of components and maybe the amount of battery power required. Look how heavy the small Roam from Sonos is and even the new Roam 2 which was also announced today still only have 10 hours of battery life. I now also understand the timing of their new app release, I wouldn't be surprised if the headset required whatever new functionality may be in this app. The app by the way also had an update today as promised and Voiceover improvements were mentioned and implemented; I'll post a separate message.

I'm not saying it doesn't sound very good, but even the most current and modern Bluetooth version and protocols have limitations when it comes to how much information can be streamed ant 1411 Kbps which is truly lossless audio is not possible, here is an excerpt from an article I recently read on Gear Patrol, I am putting the link to the full article below: Can lossless audio be streamed over Bluetooth? The short answer is no. In order to listen to lossless digital audio files, you have two main options. You can use an analog connection, like connecting your wired headphones to your smartphone or computer. Or you can stream the lossless audio over Wi-Fi, through a pair of active speakers, such as KEF Wireless II or even multi-room speaker like Sonos. There are technologies that let you stream high bitrate audio over Bluetooth. For example, if your smartphone and headphones support either of some audio codecs, such as Sony’s LDAC (up to 990 kbps) or Qualcomm’s aptX Adaptive (up to 570 kbps), you can stream stream high bitrate and low latency audio files over Bluetooth. However, these audio files aren’t lossless (which is 1,411 kbps). Is Lossless Audio the New Hi-Fi? I really thought that apart from that they would also support Wi-Fi connectivity when you are at home as all other Sonos products do and that they could be used as any other Sonos player and could be grouped with other Sonos players if, for example, my wife was watching a movie on our Arc surround setup and I wanted to listen on the headset while I was doing something else. Apparently it is very easy to transfer whatever is playing on another Sonos speaker to the headset which is somewhat nice, but I find it disappointing nonetheless. The first review I just read did sound positive in terms of the headset's design and sound quality. Apparently it is a definite step up from Apple's Airpods Max at a $100 lower price point and also competes well against Sony's top of the line offering. I may order one just to experience it, but I am 95% certain that I would probably send it back.
