The ones I have (JLabsds) have a piece that goes over the ear and does keep the buds in place firmly enough that I've discovered so far on my shortrt enough time with the product.

Perhaps in the US they are called  fins but not sure if they are the one and the same.

I'm delighted too that I know from this thread that noise cancellation has to be activated rather than as a permanent feature.

Incidentally I found an email address for the JLabs support folk so perhaps there is a good contact for Apple too for the airpods, well let's hope so.

Thanks for the suggestions and I have actually done a search both on Google and Amazon and basically found 3 different options:

1. The Earhooks which come either in a version which hooks behind the ear or a version with “fins” which press against the inside of your outer ear and by doing so keep them in place more securely. Most reviews I read seem to indicate that the version with the fins can often cause your ear to hurt a bit especially if you wear them for a longer time.

2. The lanyard/cord Chris mentioned which attaches them together so that if one falls out, it still hangs around your neck. I believe there is some sort of magnetic version as well, but I am not totally certain if that attaches magnetically to the Airpods or if it attaches with a rubber/silicon ring and then maybe the two halves attach magnetically.

I just ordered some iPhone 16 Pro cases and also both the earhooks and the lanyard so I'll see what I like or maybe I find both has a use, neither option is terribly pricy.

Best regards,

Sieghard

whilst I can't answer your question the idea of say 'stringing the airpods togethtr  is a great suggestion I havve to say and I for one will be taking a look at my own brand of airpods to see how I can devised  such.

Thhanks and good luck with those airpods of yours,

    Hi,

As I am currently in Vancouver training with my new guide dog, I
decided to go ahead and buy an iPhone 16 Pro. I placed the order
via the Apple Store website for pick up at an Apple Store near my
hotel and while I was there asked to have a brief demo of the
Airpods 4 with noise cancellation. I always thought Airpods had a
thingi which sticks inside your ear, but the Apple Store employee
told me that only the Airpod Pro has that and the regular Airpods
are basically not really all that different than the wired Earpods
except of course they don’t have a wire. I hate anything sticking
in my ear hence I’d never buy the Airpods Pro, but I must say that
I was very surprised by the regular Airpods 4. When he enabled the
noise cancellation feature all the noise in the Apple Store which
are typically very noisy, just about vanished like somebody closed
a thick door and I couldn’t even hear the employee speaking to me
from a few feet away. He then turned on transparency mode and to
my surprise I could hear him and everything around me perfectly.
Once again, I assumed that this feature would result in less than
optimal hearing of what is going on around you and that naybe it
would sound artificial, but it really is amazing how good it
sounds. I am at this point pretty much sold on these little things
with one exception and that is the ease of how they may fall out
and get lost. I have hand injuries and am missing a couple of
fingers on each hand and at one point when I tried to try to use
the play/pause function I accidently knocked it loose and even
just there in the store it bounced off the table and fell down.
I’m sure I would get a hang of them in time, but I was wondering
if anybody is using any sort of gadget to connect them together
with a string or cable. I think it’s silly of Apple not to design
them with a small loop/hole so you could at least connect them
together, but while I haven’t looked yet, I assume third party
    solutions exist which accomplish this?

    Best regards,

    Sieghard
