There is no issue, I have been using the iOS 26 Developer Beta for the last 5
weeks or so and I just started a new contact, tapped on "Add" to add a phone
number and I was placed in the edit field and instead of the regular keyboard
you are just presented with a keypad like when dialing a phone number.
This I know was the same in iOS 18, what I can't remember is whether swiping up
and down by default went to "Delete", but if it does, then all it takes is to
turn the rotor to Characters and you can then swipe up and down and go
character by character.
Also, if you want to enter numbers in the official international format which
means not simply adding a 10-digit phone number for North America like (123)
123-1234, but to include not just the country code 1, but +1, then you have to
first tap the shift key to the left of the 0, then the 0 turns into the Plus
symbol and you can tap it, then start with 1 or whatever other country code you
may want to use. If you are entering a North American number, then the
paranthesis around the area code and the dash after the first 3 digits of the
7-digit phone number is inserted automatically.
And just in case this is different in iOS 18, in iOS 26 once you are in the
edit field and enter some numbers and you want to go back character by
character, fir me swiping up did so immediately and I did not have to make sure
the rotor was turned to characters.

Best regards,
Sieghard

No. I just added a phone number to an existing contact yesterday, and I did not
have any problem there.

Subject: Issue With Entering New Contacts In Phone App On iPhone

Hi Group,

I haven't added a new contact in more than two years on my iPhone. I am
currently using the SE version 2022 iPhone.

Today I tried entering a new contact on the Phone app. The keyboard method
works great for the character fields: first and last name, e-mail and so on.
But for the numerical characters in the actual phone number field, we're back
to the way it was several years ago. There is no consistancy. Moving back and
forth in the field with up/down single finger swipes is inconsistent as is the
attempt to delete mistakes. After literally a half hour, I was able to enter
one single phone contract.

Has anyone else experienced this issue when entering numerical characters in
the number field on the iPhone since recent major upgrades on the iPhone/Phgone
app and if so , is there a trouble ticket registered with Apple accessibility?
