Hi Carla, you may not agree, but it is a fact that your phone would not have
"automatically" updated unless you gave it permission by entering your
passcode. No iO
S update installs without you entering your passcode to confirm youw ant to
proceed.
The "Get Started" message is simply a last step and you can't use your iPhone
without tapping on it. As far as AI goes, there have been no major advancements
as far as I can tell and I am in fact already using the developer Beta of iOS
26.2. However, while you don't have to turn on Apple Intelligence in Settings >
Apple Intelligence and Siri, not doing so in the long run I don't think would
be advisable since at this point the word is that as of iOS 26.4 which will
most likely be released in April, Siri will be completely different and finally
much smarter due to a deeper integration with google Gemini. Personally I can't
wait for a much smarter and more useful Siri because Apple has been promising
this for years.

Subject: IOS 26.1

My phone automatically updated to 26.1 last night and now it says get started.
Do I have to do anything different? I don't particularly want all of the A I
stuff but I do have to click on get started. Any help would be appreciated.

Carla
