Hi Debbie,

As for setting a custom gesture, you go to Settings > Accessibility > Voiceover
> Commands > Touch Gestures
Once you are there you can swipe through all the options and hear what action
is associated with a particular tap, or swipe and this includes 1-finger taps
and swipes, 2-finger taps and swipes, 3-finger, 4-finger and also 1-finger tap
and hold, 2-finger tap and hold etc.
You would have to look either for a gesture, either tap or swipe, which you
think you don't use and you can then reassign a different action to it or find
one which does not yet have an action assigned. I believe that while it's an
easy gesture to do, a 2-finger swipe left and right is by default available.
I think at the very end of the list is also an option to assign an action to a
double and triple tap of the back of the iPhone, but I find these are not
always super reliable and sometimes I find these actions might get triggered
when you don't want them. For example, I once assigned "Live Recognition which
you can start by default with a 4-finger triple tap to a 2-finger back tap and
I found that for some reason Live Recognition popped up way to often when I
didn't want it and didn't think I had double tapped the back of my phone.

Subject: Still getting used to no home button

Hello,

On my iPhone 17, why is it that sometimes when I slide down to the first blip
from the top, it goes to the app switcher and other times it goes to the
control center? I’m still new at this so I understand if its user error but
just want to know if there is an answer to this?

Also, when I try to send a text message through Siri, she cuts me off if I end
a sentence but am not through with the message. Then, she doesn’t read me back
the message.

Long time ago I remember setting something up so that I can swipe with 2
fingers left and right to go through my rotor options and this is still what I
do sometimes but I’m wondering if I can set something up like this but to go to
the app switcher or home? I don’t remember how this is done. Can someone please
answer some of these things please? I’d really appreciate it for me but
especially for my husband who is also new to not having a home button!

Thanks so much!

Debbie
