Hi, Unfortunately, tech acts up at times and simple troubleshooting needs to take place. Have you tried shutting down your iPhone to remedy the issue? Before considering your phone a paperweight, you can do simple things like resetting the phone without erasing its content. I would suggest you perform a full icloud backup then performing a reset, this will freshen things up without resetting the content. You will have to set WIFI settings and other personalized settings like voiceover.
You can reset by going to settings, general transfer or reset iphone followed by reset. Do not choose the option get started to prepare for new iphone as this option will erase your complete iphone. If resetting doesn't remedy the issue, you will have to perform a complete reset and restore from iCloud backup before going the new phone route would be my recommendation.
