Try going to settings, apps, mail, and adding your account information there 
and if you still cannot get it to work, you will need to call Apple 
Accessibility, or possibly your Internet Service Provider, depending on the 
service provider.

Hi folk,

I want to have Apple Mail as my default email client but I can't appear to get 
it working.

I go to the Emails app and choose Mail as my default, insert the correct 
password but no joy I'm afraid.

Is there anything I myself need to do to activate Mail?

Do I need to do anything else as I have entered my email address and user name 
also
