ITunes 11 is definitely very responsive, but in my opinion, the interface is a bit cluttered, at least as far as keyboard use is concerned. Using the sidebar has alleviated this problem for me, and it's a satisfactory compromise. In general, I tend to upgrade to newer versions of apps, figuring that it'll have to be done eventually. Itunes 11 is one of the rare ones that has not set quite right with me, but I think I can get used to it. Finding everything spatially on the screen without the sidebar is something I really don't want to do, but once it's enabled, I am pretty happy with it.
