Max,

The hardware line in that pasted answer cannot be your problem. A 17 Pro is
newer than anything that requirement names, so the switch is on your phone.
What is wrong is the place you were sent to look.

Here is the way in that survives version changes. Open Settings and use the
search field on that first screen, then type or dictate the words hang up
and let the phone take you to wherever that switch lives now. Apple has
moved Siri's own settings more than once in the last couple of releases,
which is why a path written for one version sends you hunting on another,
and why the thread keeps landing on a category you cannot find. I am not
going to guess the row for your iOS version. Somebody here running a 17 can
give you that part exactly.

Worth separating two things as well. Ending a call and answering one are
different controls with different switches, and your friend's original
trouble was that he cannot slide to answer. Turning on hang up will not
touch that. There is a separate accessibility setting that answers an
incoming call for him automatically after a set number of seconds, no
slider and no button at all, and for an 88 year old whose sight is going
that is probably the one that changes his day. Same way in, search the
Settings field for the word answer.

One practical note for him. He will be saying the command out loud in the
middle of the call, so the person on the other end hears it. Better he
knows that in advance than finds out on a call that matters.

Is his trouble answering mainly on the lock screen, or when the phone is
already awake?

VaShaun
