hi ok I found that option under iTunes using windows 7 32 bit but I am also
running windows xp and I can't seem to find that option regarding where to
check the box that says copy items to iTunes media library. so where is this
option under windows xp? from Mich.

Hi,
if you want to just move them from your external to your computer, open
iTunes and in the file menu, select add folder to library. Select the
folder/folders of content from your external and hit ok. This is the
process on Windows by the way. If your a Mac user, from iTunes press
command O, find the external drive in the file browser and add the folders.
I did miss 1 thing. Before doing what I wrote above, go into iTunes
preferences and under advanced, checked Copy files to iTunes Media folder
when adding to library, and press ok.
