Thanks to you, and to Keith, for responding. I have gotten it paired to my
IPhone 5, and it is now fully charged.

Although I will end up keeping it, I am disappointed in its sound. My
original intent was to go to Best Buy, or somewhere I could hear this one, and
the large one, before buying, but I bought it from Amazon when they had it on
sale. If the larger one sounds as good as I have read, and have heard from
people I know who have heard it, it is worth the extra money. If I ever decide
to buy anything else like this, I definitely want to hear it first. To me, this
one sounds like something that should sell for $50 or so, not what I paid.

One question neither of you addressed: Apparently, one can update the firmware
in these devices. When it is connected to my windows computer, it does not
show up as a drive, or device which I could log into. I think I have to
download some software from their site to perform the update. Do either of you
know if this software is accessible?

Thanks.

  Hi Arnold,

The original, smaller Jambox only has 3 buttons on the top. The slider on the
side is the on/off switch. If sliding it up doesn't do anything it means the
battery must be completely dead and you should charge it overnight. The Micro
USB charging port is below and the cables have a flattened side which makes it
easy to plug them in because that flattened side has to be pointing away from
you if the switch and plugs are on the right side. You correctly guessed that
the round plug is the 3.5mm jack which you would use if you want to connect a
non-bluetooth device.

On the top the minus button is volume down and the plus button is volume up,
the large round button will answer/hang up a call or give you battery level
(spoken as "battery is just about full", "battery is about half full" etc.

If the Jambox has power it should talk when you turn it on and also say
something like "Jambox is in pairing mode, waiting for your device to connect".
If it doesn't, try holding down the round button on top as you slide the power
switch up and keep holding the round button for a couple of seconds as it turns
on.

  Regards,

  Sieghard

Subject: Seeking Information On Operating Small Jawbone Jambox

I have unpacked what is supposed to be my small Jawbone Jambox, , but don't
really know what to do with it. I saved the emails about the large jambox, but
they don't help much, being that,

On the top are only three buttons, with a round, straight line, and cross
design. On the side, I find a two-position switch, a jack where I assume the
patch cord attaches to use it with non-bluetooth devices, and a small USB
connector. I tried playing it with a non-bluetooth player, just to see if I
could get it to play something, and couldn't get it to produce any sound. I
assume I charge it from my computer?

If anybody can tell me what the buttons do, I would appreciate it. Also,
what is the small box with the large USB connector? Finally, Being that
the large jambox has six buttons on top, I wonder if they sent the wrong thing
to me?

  Thank you for any information.
