Yes, Arnold. You do need to download the Jambox Updater software. It isn't
real accessible unless they updated the program in the last three months or
so. Some of the features like changing sound schemes you can't really do,
but you can if you are a fluent screen-reader user, be able to upgrade the
firmware, if they have new firmware out. I suspect since you Just purchased
your Jambox, that it is probably up-to-date.
In terms of the sound, yes the Bigger one has twice the sound output and
sounds pretty similar to the Bose SoundLink. There are some tonal
differences, but you can address those with a different EQ setting on the
iPod/iPhone. The beauty of the Biggr and for that matter, the original
Jambox, is that they have thought of accessibility. I don't have a
short-lived patio parrty anymore because I now can tell the level of the
battery charge, and pairing it to your device is a breeze.
I've demoed the bigger Jambox to several people and just about all of them
have purchased one of their own. I know that my nephew has had similar
experiences at his place of employment, and a few of his coworkers have
gotten one.
The little one is nice for personal enjoyment, but if you want sound for a
larger area with a much fuller sound, I'd opt for the Bigger Jambox.

If you purchased your JamBox from amazon and it specifically said either
sold by amazon or fulfilled by amazon, you can easily return it. amazon
has the betst return policy in the business. In most cases, they even
pay for the sipping back to them. Don't get stuck with something you

The original, smaller Jambox only has 3 buttons on the top. The
slider on the side is the on/off switch. If sliding it up doesn’t do
anything it means the battery must be completely dead and you should
charge it overnight. The Micro USB charging port is below and the
cables have a flattened side which makes it easy to plug them in
because that flattened side has to be pointing away from you if the
switch and plugs are on the right side. You correctly guessed that
the round plug is the 3.5mm jack which you would use if you want to
connect a non-bluetooth device.
On the top the minus button is volume down and the plus button is
volume up, the large round button will answer/hang up a call or give
you battery level (spoken as “battery is just about full”, “battery
is about half full” etc.
If the Jambox has power it should talk when you turn it on and also
say something like “Jambox is in pairing mode, waiting for your
device to connect”. If it doesn’t, try holding down the round button
on top as you slide the power switch up and keep holding the round
button for a couple of seconds as it turns on.

I have unpacked what is supposed to be my small Jawbone Jambox, ,
but don't really know what to do with it. I saved the emails about
the large jambox, but they don't help much, being that,
On the top are only three buttons, with a round, straight line, and
cross design. On the side, I find a two-position switch, a jack
where I assume the patch cord attaches to use it with non-bluetooth
devices, and a small USB connector. I tried playing it with a
non-bluetooth player, just to see if I could get it to play
something, and couldn't get it to produce any sound. I assume I
charge it from my computer?
If anybody can tell me what the buttons do, I would appreciate it.
Also, what is the small box with the large USB connector?
Finally, Being that the large jambox has six buttons on top, I
wonder if they sent the wrong thing to me?
