I also used a demo unit at one point to check it out. I think it took about 3 hours as Richard said to charge. I did leave it overnight at one time to charge, and it was fine. However, I wouldn't recommend doing that on a regular basis for the reason you mentioned in your original message. For the price, it's a fine little display.
