Ok, since there are several people who regularly report that they get very useable results from both apps mentioned, the statement that they do not work is clearly false. I have written how to use Prizmo several times on this list. There is a write-up on applevis.com. These apps require lots of practice to learn how to take a clear image for OCR conversion. Steady hands and good lighting are essential. So is lots of patience whilst learning. I use Prizmo every day. It has the best OCR engine. Text Detective is quite good as well.
