Hi Richard,

After reading several threads, it has been stated that if your phone or pod
is locked in portrait view, then the home button should be on the right. If
you don't have the orientation locked, then you can have the home button
pointing in either direction. The default setting for the braille cell is
for one to mirror image the dots. If you go to settings on your iPod and
open up the Braille Touch menu, in advance you can change the orientation of
the braille cell. I have a decent case for my phone, so it gives me lots of
support. When you face the iPhone or iPod away from you, the first three
fingers will be the first side of the braille cell and the first 3 fingers
of the right hand will represent the second side of the cell (if you change
the setting). Hence, the top braille row will be performed with the ring
finger, the middle row with the middle finger, and the bottom row with the
index fingers. Reversing the cell in the iPod's setting for the app is a
personal decision. When I train individuals in braille I use spatial
orientation directions of top, middle, bottom for dot position, along with
first and second side. This way when I begin to train with the slate and
stylus, the braille sign basically stays the same, but the orientation of
the side of the cell will change. It makes it easier for the learner to
grasp the slate faster. HTH.

The Home button and the charging port are at the same end of the device.
They should be to your left.
