Hmmm, I find it difficult to refer to that specific control as a “button.” I
think of a button as something you push down/in on to activate (or deactivate).
I’d say this is more of a “toggle switch” in that when it sits in one position
one feature is activated and when placed in its’ opposite position it activates
a somewhat opposite feature.

- Hold the phone up in front of you with the display facing you and the Home
Button at the bottom.

- The toggle switch will be on the left side near the top; able to rock toward
and away from you; toward you will permit normal ringing and other sounds,
positioned away from you will silent the ringer and other sounds.

Subject: iPhone 5 Button Question

I got my new iPhone 5 yesterday and am making sure everything functions
properly. The Finger Tips guide states that the phone has a Ring/Silent button
on the top left-side above the volume up and down buttons. I feel this button
but can't for the life of me get it to move. It does not seem to depress or
slide that I can tell. How does this button work for others who have iPhone
5's. Am I not doing something right or is it possible this button is defective
on my new phone?

Thanks for any assistance with this.
