Hi Robin,

Not something designed for VIP users, but try the Guardian crossword. Don't
use the option "for blind and partially sighted users", just use the app that
is already on the webpage. There are quick and Cryptic corsswords there. I do
the Cryptic everyday!! I should say that i had been waiting for an accessible
way of doing crosswords for years and only discovered this by chance.

The way it works isn't exactly as you would have it, but is perfectly
accessible. If you put your rotor into headings mode, you can just use a down
flick gesture to take you to the across/down columns of clues. So, lets say you
are find 1 across, read it with a flick to the right, if you think you have the
answer, you can do either of two things:
1. double tap the clue and you will be taken to the first cell of 1 across the
keyboard will also appear at the bottom half of the screen and you can enter
your answer.
2. Possibly more suited to the cryptic cw, but once I am sure I have the right
answer, having double tapped on the clue and having the keyboard showing, with
the cursor on the first cell of the 1 across row of cells, I flick once to the
right, which will show me the second cell, then I flick down twice, till I hear
"across" I flick left twice till I hear "Cheat" I doubler tap that and my
answer is filled in for me, just quicker and easier than doing it with the
keynoard, which is why I say that this cheating only really works for me when
doing the cryptic, because these sort of clues are more obvious once you have
solved them, whereas, the quick variety often have other possibilities.
However, when I do the Prize crosswords, i have, of course, to fill in the grid
manually!! Once some letters are in the grid, when you go to another clue and
doubl tap it, if you flick to the right, moving cell by cell, you will hear any
letters that are already filled in.

Because I am content doing the Guardian crosswords, I haven't really tried
with other newspapers, so would be happy to hear of other ones that work like
this. For example, I have never managed to find the way into the Times or the
Telegraph. This doesn't mean they are not accessible though, so any feed-back
would be welcome.

    Happy solving! Sandy.
