Well, it depends on the air line. I've seen air lines that still allow for free checked luggage, and I'm pretty sure I've seen free on flight wifi on at least one flight I was on recently. Of course, whether someone considers it worth paying for or not is up to each person. I've passed on paying for wifi in airports and hotels at times and gone ahead and signed up for wifi service at other times. Depends on how long I'll need it, how much it costs and what else I have going on. I've never paid for wifi on a plane before, but I can imagine doing it if I had an 8 to 12 hour flight, and I wasn't tired enough to sleep. Since it's not an essential service, I definitely would not consider it a rip off, but each person needs to decide how much it's worth for them. I'd much rather see it as a paid option than being tacked on to the price of each ticket, since I don't see myself using it on every flight. Given the state of the air line industry, I doubt we'll ever see the air lines just suck up the cost of providing this service.
