I downloaded these games and am at a loss as to how to get started
with either of them. They both go into silent mode when I open the
apps. I also downloaded another game called Word Wall which does the
same thing. Any help or podcasts on how to play these would be
appreciated.

Hi,
When word ladder first comes up, press the button to turn the sound
off--at least until you become familiar witht he program. Then choose
play. There is en edit box with one letter shwoing. you can flick up
and down to hear the letter. the word to which it is associated is to
the left. When you have typed the wor d you believe is
associated witht he word to the left, double tap ok. If it is wrong the
phone vibrates, if it is right, then the word you got correct shows to
the left of the edit box, and the edit box is ready with one letter. If
you miss three times in a row, then game places the word you missed to
the left of the edit box, and you get to try with the next letter.
