The iPhone is the most stolen phone on the planet. In China, an iPhone of
any size can sell for as much as 3 thousand USD. That makes an iPhone worth
more to a thief. You ever hear of an android phone being worth that much on
the black market? I haven't. Aside from the accessibility of the iPhone,
everything else is second class.

AppleCare?
Hello. I have State Farm insurance and my policy will cover stolen phones,
however they have a specific mention of iPhones where they do not cover
those. Kind of sad really.

Hi David,
One aspect of Apple Care that was mentioned is the ability to call Apple
technical support beyond your first year without having to pay extra.
However, strictly from a warranty point of view there are other options.
Square Trade, for example, does also offer an extended iPhone insurance
plan
which is I believe a bit less expensive than Apple Care and it covers
more.
One thing to keep in mind is that Apple Care does not cover your phone if
you jailbreak whereas Square Trade does. I also don't think that Apple
Care
covers your phone if it is stolen or if you actually break it by dropping
it
into water or on the ground where you end up with a shattered screen.
I actually have Apple Care, but I also added my iPhone to my home owners
insurance. It is listed as a separate item with serial number and all and
my
normally much higher deductible does not apply, it has a $100 deductable.
The actual cost for having it insured that way is about $30 a year and
the
insurance would cover anything that could happen to it from it being
stolen
to me breaking it because of some accident or carelessness. I paid $850
for
an unlocked 4S without contract, so to me it's worth the extra $30 a year
and whenever I get a new iPhone all I have to do is let them know and
provide the new serial number. I think it's definitely worth asking your
insurance company about this if you have home insurance.
