As for your question, I think you maybe looking at the wrong company. The company Square Trade which provides insurance plans for iPhones, iPads and many other devices is according to their website an American company with their head office in San Francisco. You can go to www.SquareTrade.com and check them out. I only mentioned Square Trade because Rob from the Today in iOS podcast does recommend them especially ifyou are or plan to jailbreak and it's an alternative to Apple Support.
