Raul, I'm on the apple ID web site and right away I see a discrepancy between what's shown on the iPhone and what's shown using the PC. No where in the security questions section using the PC is there any indication that I need to answer more than one question. I've just selected a question, typed in an answer, and made sure the birth date info was correct before clicking save. I was told my changes were saved, and now I'm back in the same list of security questions an no hint that I need to choose two more questions. totally confused over here. <sigh>

Hello Lisa. It is perplexing that using the same ID on your PC and on your device is not seeming to synchronize after you make sure and answer all those questions correctly. It has been so long since I have done this that I do not remember the exact steps on making sure things work right. Perhaps signing out and then back in from your device might make things work a little better. One other thing you might consider trying is going to the Apple ID website directly and updating your security questions. This might trigger the need to answer them on both your PC and device again. However if something is not synchronizing properly perhaps this is the fix. The Apple ID website is http://appleid.apple.com.

Good luck.

I don't think it's stupid, either, but there's obviously something going on if I can answer questions on my PC and have them saved along with my Apple ID and password but the same info isn't stored when I try logging in using the iPhone.

I guess that's my biggest issue.

I'm going to use my PC once more and answer 3 security questions and see how it goes.

I did notice that on the iPhone, at least, answering one block of questions seems to trigger another list of unique questions. I agree that some of them are probably not applicable to those of us who have never driven, but you could always use a guide dog's name or your favorite sighted person and no one would know the difference, it might even be more secure because the predicted answers of vehicle models aren't present.

While I respect your opinion, I disagree with you saying that it is stupid. The security questions are done to protect you from your Apple ID being hijacked.

You can't evade it, and one answer isn't enough; you have to answer all of
them, even if it's a nonsense answer, so long as it's an answer you will
naturally come too. I had one about a car, I've never had a car, so put None for that and let it go. And once, when I had a new device, (and this
is your current position, you're starting with a new device, new to the
appstore account at least; )but I got asked the stupid question, said None, and it was good enough. The store will ask two of the four randomly as you add or change devices; and coming back to it means it will have picked two
different ones. Good job as I'd forgot how I answered one of them.

So keep answers to a simple and obvious word, it is still specific to you. First place of employment for example, least favourite teacher, just the
name without the rest is plenty.

I think you should just do it, you'll be nagged until you do.

Subject: Bypassing Security question in App Store, is it possible?

Hi, all.

Using the iPhone 5 here. I'm hoping someone has a solution to this problem.

I'm trying to download apps from the app store. These are free apps like
Color ID, iMove, etc. I've set up my apple ID, password and security
question on my PC, but when I try downloading anything from the app store while using the iPhone, I'm taken to a page where I can choose a security question and type in the answer and/or set up a rescue email address. The only options I have at this screen are Not Now and Continue. Double tapping Not now takes me back to the App store and if I double tap the Free Button or Install App button, the process starts over again with me being back in
the security screen.

Continue takes me into the page where I'm supposed to provide security
questions and answers.

Thing is, I have already set up my Apple ID, password, rescue Email and one security question on my PC. I thought the changes made to my account would
be the same regardless of whether I'm using an iPhone or my PC.

What am I doing wrong?

TIA for the help

Lisa
