I don't believe i stated that one shouldn't follow the care instructions for the particular battery being used, of course one should. As you said tips for using Nicad batteries still apply to Nicad batteries. However some of the common knowledge around caring for nicad batteries should not be applied to the newer LI batteries. I should probably have said "some" rather than "much" of the knowledge should be thrown away. However they definitely shouldn't be treated the same.
