I agree with you that the list should be compassionate and
understanding, but I also think a part of being respectful to other list
members is putting some time into composing your messages and giving
some thought to how they'll be perceived and responded to on the list.
If someone doesn't take the time to use a spell checker, use punctuation
and capitalization or proof read they're out going messages then they
run the risk of having their question or information being ignored or
wasting the time of other list members. I don't always know myself if a
poorly written message is the result of laziness and inconsiderateness
or has something to do with someone's education or background though, so
I hesitate to jump to any conclusions.
Remember, this is a public list, so not everyone is going to be
considerate, compassionate, literate and so on. We all need to realize
that when we join one of these lists, and we're not always going to like
everyone on the list and like what everyone has to say.

I think Neal does have a good point. The flip side to putting some effort
into the messages you send out so they'll reach the broadest audience and be
respectful to the list membership is putting some thought into the message
you're reading and not jumping to conclusions.
I'm sure what I've interpreted as abruptness in the past or a laziness to
proof read, correct grammatical mistakes or use a spell checker has really
come down to differences in culture or language. This is one reason I'm
hesitant to coach a list member on how there posts are coming across,
especially on the list itself. If I think someone is going to be receptive
to some advice, I'll generally take that up with them off list, and I'll try
to be very tactful.

I am very tired of certain people on this list complaining about the
miss-spellings and incorrect grammar used by senders. This is an
international list. There are people from all over the world here
whose first language is not English. Perhaps if you tried to ask a
question in Japanese, you might have the same difficulty being
understood. If you want to answer an email and give helpful
information, I see no reason to insult the sender by asking them to
re-send just because you don't think their messages uses proper
English. If you really can't understand the question, you will
certainly need more information. However, in this particular instance,
the senders message was clear enough to be dealt with. So deal with it
or not, but let's stop insulting people who are at least willing to use

Don`t know about folders, but some notes program have pin code or
password protection that can be enabled in their settings. You can
then import and save different type of documents like word, pdf.
N+Otes have this options it looks like + notes recorder in built, but
the iCloud part of N+Otes does not work here. That is irritating
since the program is fully accessible and seems to work well.
If memory serves, i believe Nebulous have a password option with more
signs i.e. letter and numbers.
