Are you using imap? If so, go to the account in settings, mail, contacts,
calendars, then open the button with your email address. After all the
settings there at the bottom is the advanced button. Open it and if there is
a button called "deleted mailbox, trash", when you delete an messages should
be send to the trash folder, in other words, deleted. If not, open the
button and choose the trash folder.
