Yes, Google dropped support for Exchange Active Sync as of the end of
January but stated that existing connections would continue to work. I
too use Outlook.com now for contacts, calendars, and reminders, and
find that it works very well with the iPhone using Exchange. Email is
a different matter, though, since that's such a pain to switch. So for
now I'm continuing to use Gmail via IMAP and have settled on the
Ultimate Notifier app for push Email, while using Outlook.com for my
contacts/calendars/reminders as I said. Actually, it seems to me that
Gmail via IMAP is quite a bit more stable than Gmail via Exchange, but
of course the lack of push Email is quite a price to pay.
