I have 2 good friends that carry an iPhone in their pocket with out a case. Both say, iPhone is about the toughest phone you can buy. The screen is protected by Apple's glass technology which they insist is tougher then window glass. The phone shows signs of where because the one guy has a 3GS and the other guy a 4. They say the case thing is mostly one of scaring the hell out of people. My opinion is that of yours.
