A work-around yes, but still using WiFi on the iPod Touch and not an option for most users.

This is true, Although, I was doing a job of work in Reno last week and needed to teach GPS navigation. Since I'm an android user as well as an IOS user, I activated the wireless hotspot Tethering option on my android phone. Then I connected my IPod touch to the wifi hotspot in the phone and got internet connectivity for use with ariadne. A nice little workaround if I do say so myself. There is no iPod Touch model that is 3G/LTE capable, only way to access any data with an iPod Touch is via WiFi so that of course wouldn't be an option for use with any GPS app that requires data. As Jeff already said, your only option would be an app such as Navigon which allows you to download the map data to your device. Apps such as BlindSquare, Ariadne GPS, Sendero LookAround etc. would not work. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Dani L Pagador Sent: Thursday, June 27, 2013 8:55 PM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: Can an iPod with a Reciever Use GPS apps? Hi. I'm behind on messages and am slowly waiding through things. Just saw this one and need to ask whether you need a data plan for the iPod Touch to be able to be used with a receiver. If a person buys a GPS app that downloads the maps to the device like Navigon or Tom Tom, then an iPod Touch can be used for GPS. I believe there are two or three blue tooth GPS receivers now that work with iDevices. I have not seen or used any of them. Duel Electronics and BadElf are two I remember discussions about a year or more ago. amazon sold them both and I'm thinking there is another, but I can't remember the name. I'd suggest a search on Amazon for blue tooth gps receiver and Apple to see what is currently there. I listened to the Keynote today. I was interrupted during some of the iOS 7 portion when they were talking about the 10 new features. However, nothing about accessibility was mentioned. In prior Keynote addresses, they always mentioned accessibility changes, improvements, etc. Siri is getting a new voice, but that has nothing to do with accessibility. In fact, one thing they mentioned that does not sound very good from an accessibility stand point is the automatic updating of apps. If they don't allow us to disable that feature, there will be no way to avoid updating an app that has broken accessibility. I know there are developers on this list and I know you are all under NDAs, but it will be good to know if accessibility is being improved rather than ignored.
