New messages should show up in your in box. A rule or Gmail's spam filter might send it into another folder though. Have you checked your spam folder? Do you have multiple accounts set up in your phone's mail client? If so, have you checked the other in boxes? I'm not sure what you mean when you assume your new messages are mixed in with the rest of the garbage. Are you referring to the Trash folder? I'm not sure why you'd assume this, like I said, it should end up in your in box and not the Trash folder.
