I have had decent results with this with blind square as previously
mentioned.
But when I do this, I increase the distance blind square is looking, plus
turn off all announcements except streets. This cuts down on extra chatter,
and allows blind square to keep up better.

Hi, blind square does a fairly good job at announcing intersections.
However it will miss some due to the speed at which you travel in while
riding in a vehicle. Ariadne is excellent for announcing the address
ranges as you move, but not as much with intersections, although it has
a very nice explore feature which helps somewhat.

I downloaded ariadne, it does not do this. It does do a good job for the
road you are on, or turn onto, but does not give info on streets you
cross.
Apple maps on my Iphone 4s can plan a route, but that’s about it.
Any advice/suggestions are appreciated.
