I don't think I insinuated anything. I just pointed out that Raul has
discussed this on the list in the past and has referred to an IOS app he
uses to decrypt Truecrypt files. Anyone is able to look for this on the
list archives. I went ahead and looked through the archives myself
anyway, and here's what I found from Raul on how he uses Truecrypt to
protect his confidential data:
The one thing I don't do is put a text file of credit card or social security
numbers in Dropbox just for the convenience of having access to those from my
iPhone. Call me paranoid, but that's the way it is. Instead, what I do is use
Truecrypt. Truecrypt is a program which allows you to create a file container
of any size and put stuff in it. Think of it like a virtual usb stick. So, I
have a 10 Mb Truecrypt container called KeepOut.tc. Yes, only 10 megs in size.
I have this file in my dropbox folder and when I want to review personal text
files from any of my computers, I simply mount this small 10 meg file and it
becomes its own drive. Like drive x maybe. I can then open files, copy files,
add files, do whatever I want in my little 10 meg virtual usb stick. When I'm
done, I unmount it, that's like using safely remove hardware. The file is
updated on Dropbox and closed up and secure again.
There is an iphone app which will open Truecrypt files and so if I want access
to this data from my iphone, then I simply do the same process from there.
Unfortunately, Raul didn't mention the Truecrypt app he was using in the
message I found, and I couldn't find the other messages where I think he
talked more about it, but I'm sure someone who is serious could find
this. I did also look in the store, and I'm pretty sure he's using Disk
Cipher.
I hope this helps. I use Truecrypt on my PC, but I haven't started using
it on my iPhone yet, so I'm just passing on what I've read on list.

As you insinuated below, please post how one can use TrueCrypt on an iPhone.

Subject: Re: App for journaling on the iPhone and desktop, was Password
Protecting Folder on Dropbox
I've been meaning to look into this myself, but I know Raul has talked
on list about using Truecrypt to encrypt a file that he keeps in
Dropbox. I use Truecript on my PC, so I know I can use this to encrypt
and unencrypt the file on the PC side. Apparently, there's also a iPhone
app for this as well. I know I'm not helping much, but maybe you can
search the list archives for Raul's messages on this topic.

Eric,
For journaling you could use Lumen Trails and sync via iCloud. I've
used this app on a limited basis and it seems to be pretty VO
friendly. Although I have never used the iCloud function it looks
easy.
Another app which I use for journaling on the phone is called My
Thoughts. Though I prefer this app, I don't see an easy way to sync
content with your other computers.
I hope this helps.

I still have not found an app to Journal either on my iPhone or PC. So, I
wonder can I create a folder in drop box that requires a password to open
it. I could then keep my daily logs in there And create or access them
from
either the phone or computer.
Thanks in advance!
