Hi Nora, I agree with what Joseph said, the compact voice to me sounds more muffled and, well, not as high quality as the high quality voice. I have not found that my 4S is less responsive using the high quality voice. I have read some posts of people with hearing loss who actually said they can understand the compact voice better. I guess there is no right or wrong here, you just have to decide yourself, in my opinion and for my ears there is no questions that the high quality voice is much better to understand and less annoying to listen to.
