I sync music through iTunes, and I always update using iTunes. I'll make sure to an sink everything, and then sync it back up once iOS has updated. Hopefully you're right about it just needing more space to do whatever it does, and then shrinking or something. I have no idea what I'm talking about anymore. I thought a program or OS or whatever only took up as much space as it needed, even when installing. Oh well.
