Hi Sandy,

If you activate/turn the rotor to handwriting on the home screen, any
letters you write on the screen will narrow down your apps to those that
start with that letter. A good one to try is "C" since there are a lot of
apps that start with C, you will most likely get Calculator, Calendar,
Camera, Clock, Compass, Contacts etc. As soon as you draw the letter on the
home screen, Voiceover will say how many apps it found in the list and read
the first one, you can do a 2-finger swipe down to move down the list or
draw a second letter to narrow the list down further. For example, if you
next draw an "L", you will most likely be left with Clock alone and
Voiceover will say "1 app". Do a 2-finger swipe left to erase the second
letter you just wrote and you are back to "7 apps" in my case, if I do
another swipe left to delete the "c", Voiceover will say "73 apps which is
the number of apps on my phone and I can now swipe down the list which will
be presented in alphabetical order.

As Cara said, there are a lot of small and some fairly significant Voiceover
enhancements in iOS 7, handwriting and the 4-finger triple tap to copy the
text Voiceover last spoke to the clipboard are only 2 of them. I personally
don't experience any bugs which bug me all that much, yes, not being able to
move the cursor in the first or last name field when editing a Contact is
inconvenient, so is the fact that Voiceover doesn't say the type of phone
number like Home, Work, Mobile etc. in the Favorites list if you have the
same person in it with multiple numbers, but all of those I find fairly
minor. Maybe if you use the phone differently or if you are a braille user
there are more significant bugs, can't comment on that since I have never
found it necessary to use a braille display to accomplish what I needed to
do.

Regards,
Sieghardnot so .

Anna, There is something that is still confusing me about what you say.
At what point in this process do I select handwriting on the rotor? Right
now I am on the home screen. If I select handwriting on the rotor from
there, I cannot go into "settings"; the entire screen is devoted to and
writing. Yet, if I go into "Voiceover Practice," Handwriting is not s
setting on my rotor because the rotor is so context sensitive. I'm missing
something. Thanks for your patience.

Hi,

>From the voiceOver settings screen, choose Practice Gestures. If the button
in the top left corner says Handwriting Help, double-tap it. Now, as you
make gestures on the screen, VoiceOver will tell you what they do when you
set the rotor to Handwriting.
