To unlock your phone with your fingerprint, just press your finger to the home button. The phone will see it and unlock if it recognizes you. Note that three failed unlock attempts will result in a prompt for your passcode, which is why you need to set one before you can use the fingerprint reader. Not unlocking your phone in forty-eight hours will do the same thing. To authenticate a purchase, press your finger to the reader when you are prompted for a password in the App store. This process is not yet perfect, and you do sometimes still need to enter your password.
