Hi Kliphton,

Photostream and Shared Photostream works fine for me and I don't have an
iCloud email address. In fact, I respectfully disagree with your belief that
the full feature set of iCloud is only available to somebody with an iCloud
email address. iCloud uses your Apple ID and it shouldn't matter beans
whether you use an @iCloud.com email, a gmail, an @Outlook.com or something
altogether different. That would be like saying Facetime or iMessage which
uses your Apple Id only works with an iCloud email address.

Regards,
Sieghard

Having a iCloud domain for photo streem would have helped you here. I have
had my iCloud address ever since it was offered free in the summer of 2011,
and back then I had a iPhone4, and I have never lost a picture because of
it. I know iCloud gives you the opertunity to use a current email address.
But if you want to take advantage of all the services, photo streem, shared
photo streem, sinking notes and pages documents across devices, and
reminders and now key chain. Its best to get a iCloud based email from
apple. Yes it still backs up contacts, notes, and I think calendars. But
some of the apple services I mentioned above will not work if you don't. I
have tested it both ways, and even apple support told me the same thing.

Not sure if there is anything to do about this but:

I had a 4S and upgraded to a 5C. They were able to transfer most of my info
to the new phone. However, some of my pictures didn't transfer. Anything I
can try to retrieve them? I think that everything was backed up to the cloud
but I wasn't sure why some of the pictures did transfer and some didn't.

I did call the store as soon as I realized this had happened but they had
already wiped the old phone.

Thanks.

Michelle
